1 – DEFINITIONS
1.1 The Client: The recipient of the service.
1.2 The Artist: Johanna Covell Makeup Artist.
1.3 The Agreement: The agreement between the Client and the Artist, confirmed by e-mail, for the provision of hair and/or makeup services or lessons.
1.4 The Fee: The amount payable by the Client to the Artist for the service in the Agreement.
1.5 The Event: The occasion for which the service has been agreed.
1.6 The Party: Persons in addition to the Client requiring services at the Event.
1.7 The Studio: Johanna Covell Makeup Home Studio, Hope Mills, NC
1.8 The Trial: An opportunity for the client to try out hair or makeup styles.
2 – MAKEUP AND/OR HAIR BOOKINGS
2.1 Event bookings are secured upon receipt of a booking fee. This confirms the Agreement and secures the Artist’s availability for the Event on the agreed date and time for the agreed Fee (subject to variations of number in the Party but subject to a minimum booking). Until the booking fee has been paid, the Artist will not confirm the Event in her diary.
2.2 The booking fee is deducted from the final Fee due. Enquiries for which a booking fee has not been paid are not confirmed and therefore availability cannot be guaranteed and an Agreement is not in place.
2.3 Booking fees are non-refundable in any circumstances. If the Client does not wish to book the service for the Event after a Trial the booking fee is non-refundable.
2.4 The Fee is always agreed upon via e-mail, verbal agreements are not offered as they are not deemed valid by the Artist.
2.5 The Artist reserves the right to cancel special offers and rates at any time, with the exception of where an e-mail Agreement is already in place with the Client.
2.6 Trials shall take place at the Studio save where agreed by the Artist in an email. Trials are intended for the Client to try out various different styles or looks for their wedding day and not to assess the skills of the Artist.
3 – LESSON BOOKINGS
3.1 Event bookings are secured upon e-mail confirmation from The Artist. This confirms the Agreement and secures the Artist’s availability for the Event/lesson on the agreed date and time for the agreed Fee.
3.2 The Fee is always agreed via e-mail, verbal agreements are not offered as they are not deemed valid by the Artist.
3.3 The Artist reserves the right to cancel special offers and rates at any time, with the exception of where an e-mailed Agreement is already in place with the Client.
4 – TRAVEL EXPENSES
4.1 Travel expenses are incurred for every mile outside a 30-mile road distance from the Studio to the venue where the service is to take place at a rate of $2.00 for every mile.
4.2 Distances are calculated using an on-line journey planner and travel expenses will be agreed between the Artist and Client as part of the Agreement.
4.3 If required, alternative methods of transport other than motor vehicle such as flight will be discussed and agreed with the Client during the booking process.
5 – ACCOMMODATION EXPENSES
5.1 For a service that is booked to start prior to 8am and is over 30 miles from the Studio, accommodation expenses will be incurred, this will be discussed and agreed with the Client during the booking process.
5.2 For all bookings outside of the USA accommodation charges will be incurred, also to be discussed and agreed with the Client during the booking process.
6 – PAYMENT
6.1 An invoice for the booking fee shall be sent upon booking, and an invoice for the trial shall be sent in advance of the same. An invoice for the balance of the Fee will be sent from the Artist to the Client before the date of the Event, unless the Event is in less than 4 weeks’ time in which case it will be sent immediately after the booking has been secured.
6.2 Full payment of the balance of the Fee is required 1 week before the Event, if the Event is less than 1 week away full payment is required to secure the booking.

6.4 For booking fee payments by bank transfer the booking is only confirmed once the bank transfer has cleared in the Artist’s bank account. The Artist will provide bank information by email if necessary for payment.
6.5 In the event that payment is not received before the Event or Lesson, the Artist may refuse to attend or carry out the Service.
7 – CLIENT RESPONSIBILITY
7.1 It is the Client’s responsibility to inform the Artist of any potential issues such as but not limited to medical conditions, allergies and/or sensitivities for the Client and all members of the Party
7.2 The Artist cannot be held liable for any condition that arises or loss incurred by the Client if the Client has not informed the Artist of any known conditions as stated above, or of any conditions unknown to the Client at the time of the service.
7.3 The Artist reserves the right to cancel the Agreement if the behavior of the Client or the Party is deemed inappropriate by the Artist and/or if the Client reports a condition that the Artist deems a risk to the Client’s health and well-being. In these cases, any payments that have already been made by the Client for the service are non-refundable.
7.4 In the event that the Client or a member of the Party are found to have a contagious illness or infection, including but not limited to cold sores or conjunctivitis, the Artist reserves the right to refuse the service or part thereof. In such circumstances, no refund shall be made.
7.5 In the event that the Client has made a booking on behalf of the Party, it is the Client’s responsibility to obtain payments from their Party and pay this to the Artist. The Artist will not accept payments piecemeal from the Party.
7.6 Final numbers for the Party shall be confirmed at the Trial. Reductions in this number will not be reflected in the final invoice. The Artist shall try to accommodate increases in this number after this time, but the Client accepts that this may not be possible.
8 – ARTIST RESPONSIBILITIES
8.1 The Artist will always use her best endeavors to honor the Agreement.
8.2 There may be circumstances beyond the control of the Artist, for example illness, delay or otherwise unavailability, sometimes at short notice and due to circumstances outside the control of the Artist. In such a case the Artist will inform the Client at the earliest opportunity and endeavor to make favorable alternative arrangements where possible.
9 – CANCELLATIONS
9.1 Wedding Events; Cancellations received less than three months before the Event shall incur 50% of the outstanding balance of the Fee. Cancellations received less than six weeks before the Event shall incur 100% of the outstanding balance of the Fee.
9.2 Other Events/Lessons; Cancellations received less that one week before the Event shall incur 50% of the outstanding balance of the Fee. Cancellations received less than 48 hours before the Event shall incur 100% of the outstanding balance of the Fee.
9.3 Cancellations are only valid if received by e-mail.
10 – PHOTOGRAPHY & USE OF IMAGES
10.1 The Artist shall always endeavor to take images of the Client and the Party and share them. No reduction in the Fee shall be received if such images are not taken or shared.
10.2 Photographic/video images of the Client, Party and/or Event may be used by the Artist in promotional material including social media unless the Client has expressly withdrawn their consent in writing.
11 – ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT DETAILS
11.1 Repeat trials: If a further trial is requested the same fee applies as for the first trial.
11.2 Additional artists will only be present at the Artist’s bookings at her invitation if there is a time constraint and it is not possible for her to provide the hair and/or makeup for the entire Party.
11.3 Individual lashes: Individual lash application is included in the price for the makeup or makeup and hair service, there is no reduction in price for any makeup service if their application is declined.
11.4 Makeup services for younger members of the Party: Makeup services for members of the Party who are up to 10 years old are complimentary. This will only include lip-gloss, blush, and shimmery eyeshadow application. If a more complete makeup service is required the full bridesmaid’s price will apply.
11.5 Hair styling services for younger members of the Party: Priced as set out in the Agreement.
